The "scan and identify" factory

~$870K combined revenue across 6 apps, all launched since late 2025

One company (Next Vision Limited) built AntiqSnap for antiques, FoilSnap for trading cards, StarSnap for sports cards, PhilSnap for stamps, ComicSnap for comics, and WoodSense for wood. Same app, different database. Point camera, get identification and price estimate.

AntiqSnap alone did ~$300K with 400K downloads. The others range from $50K-$200K each.

The formula is camera + AI identification + pricing. Every hobby where stuff gets bought and sold has this same "what's this worth?" moment.

Adjacent ideas to build:

  • Vinyl record scanner — identify pressing, estimate value

  • Sneaker authenticator — real vs fake, plus resale price

  • Thrift store pricer — scan clothing tags, estimate flip value

  • Lego set identifier — scan a pile of bricks, figure out which set it is

Tai chi for seniors — $400K

~90K downloads, released Sep 2025

Follow-along tai chi videos for older adults. Short sessions, gentle movements, seated options available. The developer also runs a separate senior workout app doing ~$100K. A competitor (Tai Chi Walking: GentleFit) launched around the same time and already pulls ~$30K.

Revenue per download is around $4.44. These users convert.

The 65+ demographic has money and almost nobody building for them. Simpler UX requirements (bigger text, fewer features) make these apps easier to build too.

Adjacent ideas to build:

  • Chair yoga for seniors — seated-only routines, zero equipment

  • Daily balance exercises — fall prevention is a huge concern for this age group

  • Walking programs with audio coaching — "walk 20 min, here's today's route and pace"

  • Brain training designed for 65+ — not Lumosity, something gentler and less gamified

LoopCraft — project management for crochet

~$100K revenue, ~80K downloads, released Oct 2025

Tracks crochet and knitting projects: patterns, stitch counts, yarn inventory, progress logging. If you've never lost your place in a 47-row pattern, this sounds silly. If you have, you get it.

Competitor Loopsy has 8,500+ ratings. SewPal does the same thing for sewing. There's a whole cluster of these now.

Crafting hobbies have committed, paying users and almost no good software.

Adjacent ideas to build:

  • Yarn inventory — scan the label, auto-log color, weight, yardage

  • Project cost calculator — "this blanket will cost you $47 in materials"

  • Quilting pattern tracker — same concept as LoopCraft but for quilters

  • Resin art companion — track curing times, color mixing ratios, project gallery

PSL - Looksmax & Ascend

~$70K revenue, ~100K downloads, released Nov 2025

Scans your face, gives you a score, recommends exercises (mewing, jawline stuff, skincare routines). Basically the looksmaxxing subreddit turned into a structured program.

The niche is bigger than one app. Depuff AI has 4,100+ ratings. Taller - Maximize Your Height has 12,400+. There are mewing coaches, bloating analyzers, the whole thing.

When an internet subculture creates daily routines and its own vocabulary, there's usually an app waiting to be built.

Adjacent ideas to build:

  • Posture correction coach — camera-based, real-time alerts when you slouch

  • Skincare routine tracker with progress photos — weekly selfies, same angle, track changes

  • Cold plunge timer + tracker — log duration, water temp, how you felt after

  • Outfit analysis — scan your fit, get feedback based on body type and style goals

AutoSnore — snoring recorder, $60K

~20K downloads, ~700 ratings, released Nov 2025

Records you sleeping, detects snoring, shows a timeline of your night with audio clips. Some people use it to prove to their partner that they snore. Others track whether lifestyle changes help.

SnoreLab (the incumbent) has 55,000+ ratings and has been around for years. AutoSnore still carved out $60K in a few months.

Sleep problems are universal and the technical bar is low — microphone, basic audio analysis, decent UI.

Adjacent ideas to build:

  • Sleep talking recorder — people are genuinely curious what they say at night

  • Teeth grinding detector — bruxism is a real health issue, dentists would refer this

  • Baby sleep monitor — parents will pay for anything that gives peace of mind

  • Sleep environment scorer — correlate room noise, temp, and humidity with sleep quality

That's the five. See you next week!
